He was a USA today reporter, he was in the hot water because he lied and plagiarized, as well as faked major stories, he had the option to resign or get fired. Kelley decided to resign after having at least 8 stories like this. This relates to Stephen Glass, in the way that they both faked stories, yet Glass's stories didn't have any real quotes at all and Kelley's quotes were plagiarized. Similar but different.
