Jake Scott Article Summary
Well this article was actually pretty different from the past articles we have read. This author of this article actually included himself a lot in the story. I like how it was split up in sections giving us the time because we see more of the mood the interviewee might have at these points. This feature profile was basically about a football player who really never decided to take the credit he deserved and just escaped the world. Which I guess gives us an insight of a celebrity's life, which in mh option is very interesting. I know we always talk about how to exclude ourselves from the story, but the way this was written I think including the author in the story was great, he did it in a subtle way, he never included emotion which I think was great. He only had facts and facts only. I liked how it pictured the scene of Hawaii because he made me feel as a reader as if I were walking down the Main Street with them, you can really tell that the author wrote with passion and enjoyment in this piece. They followed the guidelines that we read last class really well!! Nice feature profile pick mr.winter. however I have noticed you have a soft spot for sport stories!!!!!

It's funny, I do have a soft spot for sports stories, but it's partially because I taught a sports journalism class at my old school. When I taught these stories in a sports unit, however, everybody got mad and said I wasn't teaching "real" sports stories. But I think the best sports stories appeal to everyone not just big sports fans. So I love this story. I agree with your assessment of this story 100 percent. The author is a character in his own story, but he is kind of a foil for the main character. And the way the main character (Scott) treats him helps the reader to see what kind of person Scott is, and that's the point of the whole story, so it's appropriate. Usually, it gets in the way to put yourself in the story ... but not always. 100
